March 9-13

March 9th  - 13th
What are we doing this week?
HORN
This week in math we will continue our fraction unit. We will complete the unit and take the unit test  

Learning Targets
·         I can recognize equivalent fractions and explain why.
·         I can represent fractions on a number line.
·         I can generate equivalent fractions.

In Science we have two more days on our matter unit because of weather delays. Next, we will move on to our chemical reaction unit.



WOODS
This week we will continue a brief Beverly Cleary Unit. We will read continue the story Ramona’s World. In continuing this story we will begin discussing how to identify the them in a text. We will continue ACT Aspire preparation by responding to narrative prompts.
LEARNING TARGETS
·         Determine the theme of a text and identify supporting evidence for the theme.
·         Write a narrative essay using prompts.
·         Use a checklist to edit and revise my writing.
·         Students will also receive a spelling list that includes words with affixes .Here’s the Spelling City link for practice: spellingcity.com/paine3. We are currently on the Unit 5 Lesson 3  list.
HOMEWORK
WOODS:
-Students must read for 20 minutes each night & Log on their Biweekly Reading Log. The Reading is Thinking Homework on the back of their log must also be completed this week

HORN:
Students must complete 30 minutes of Dreambox this week at home. Additional (low amount of problems) homework may be given if the teacher sees the need for practice of a particular skill. Remember Dreambox records time from Sunday to Saturday.
Tests
HORN: Students will have their fraction assessment as well as their daily math assessment on Friday.

WOODS: Spelling Assessment Thursday. NO VOCABULARY ASSESSMENT
