April 6 - 10


April 6th  – 10th  
What are we doing this week?
HORN
This week we continue preparing for the ACT Aspire. We will also continue our geometry unit.
 
LEARNING TARGETS
·         Prepare for ACT Aspire
·         I can master my multiplication facts up to 12.
·         I can find the area and perimeter of any shape.
  • I can identify the symbols on a weather map.
  • I can describe the conditions of severe weather.
 
This week in Science we will continue our weather unit.  Students will review the tools used by scientists to record and measure weather. Students will also participate in creating our very own weather map for Trussville, Alabama. Finally, using Microsoft publisher, students will create a brochure all about severe weather!
 
WOODS
This week we continue preparing for the ACT Aspire.
LEARNING TARGETS
·         Prepare for ACT Aspire.
·         respond to a prompt to produce a personal narrative.
·         Conclude Ramona’s World
·         Students will also receive a spelling list that includes words with affixes .Here’s the Spelling City link for practice: spellingcity.com/paine3. We are currently on the Unit 6 Lesson 1  list.
HOMEWORK
WOODS:
-Students must read for 20 minutes each night & Log on their Biweekly Reading Log. The Reading is Thinking Homework on the back of their log must also be completed this week  
 
HORN:
Students must complete 30 minutes of Dreambox this week at home. Additional (low amount of problems) homework may be given if the teacher sees the need for practice of a particular skill. Remember Dreambox records time from Sunday to Saturday.
 
***NOTE- PLEASE HELP US ENSURE THAT STUDENTS ARE TAKING CARE OF THEIR HOMEWORK BY CHECKING AND SIGNING THEIR AGENDAS AND READING LOGS NIGHTLY. YOU CAN ALSO ASSIST IN THIS MATTER BY MAKING SURE THAT STUDENTS ARE KEEPING THEIR HOMEWORK SLEEVES IN THEIR BINDERS UPDATED. THIS MEANS THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING IT NIGHTLY, COMPLETEING THE ASSIGNMENTS THERE, AND RETURNING THE APPROPRIATE PAPERS TO THAT SECTION.
Tests
HORN: Students will have a weekly skills assessment test on Friday based off of their daily math we complete each day.    
 
WOODS: Spelling Test Thursday.

·         Boosterthon Fun- April 10th  be sure you’ve registered your child and turned in the permission slip for them to be able to participate.

·         Continue Weather Unit if unfinished, then move on to forces and motion.
