Weekly Newsletter February 17th-20th

February 17th - 20th
What are we doing this week?
HORN
This week in Math we will begin a new unit, FRACTIONS.

LEARNING TARGETS
  •      I can use fractions to describe parts of a whole.
  •           I can represent fractions on a number line.
  •          I can express whole numbers as fractions.

  • This week in Science we will end our discussion of the moon/space and begin physical and chemical changes.

WOODS
This week we continue our Great Depression Unit. We will focus on a historical fiction story titled "The Babe and I". 
LEARNING TARGETS

·         Identify facts and opinions
·         Write facts and opinions
·         Create a timeline using dates from a biography.



  • Students will also receive a spelling list that includes words with Greek and Latin roots .Here’s the Spelling City link for practice: spellingcity.com/paine3. We are currently on the Unit 4 Lesson 4 list.

HOMEWORK
WOODS:
-Students must read for 20 minutes each night & Log on their Biweekly Reading Log. The Reading is Thinking Homework on the back of their log must also be completed this week

HORN:
Students must complete 30 minutes of Dreambox this week at home. Additional (low amount of problems) homework may be given if the teacher sees the need for practice of a particular skill. Remember Dreambox records time from Sunday to Saturday.
Tests
HORN: Students will have a P.U.M.P. exam on Friday.   

WOODS: Spelling Assessment Friday; Vocabulary Assessment Friday
